Aldo Capristo serves as a key ZettaJoule advisor, bringing valuable insights from his 40-year career in U.S. nuclear power plant operations. He offers strategic guidance with a particular focus on mission-critical Texas relationships and workforce development initiatives that support ZROC, ZettaJoule’s wholly owned subsidiary dedicated to training, educating and certifying qualified nuclear energy professionals.

Aldo is an accomplished, Texas-based nuclear industry professional with four decades of experience grounded in purposeful leadership, team motivation, and uniting people around a shared mission – especially when the goals are challenging. He is a U.S. Navy veteran who proudly served his country in highly trained positions aboard a nuclear-powered submarine.

Professional experience

Aldo is the founder and CEO of Capristo Executive Support Services where he guides nuclear startups in critical areas such as licensing, construction, commercialization, and operations. His deep experience and extensive relationships across the nuclear industry and in the state of Texas are invaluable to ZettaJoule and its operations and workforce subsidiary, ZROC.

He served for a decade at STP Nuclear Operating Company in Texas as Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer. As a public-facing nuclear executive, his focus was on community, industry, academic, government, and public relations. His areas of oversight included corporate governance, support and performance, organizational effectiveness, IT, cybersecurity, safety culture, HR, business development and legal affairs.

During his time as Vice President of Business and Regulatory Affairs for Xcel Energy/Nuclear Management Company in Minnesota, Aldo led the establishment and eventual wind-down of multiple support organizations within a newly formed nuclear operating company. He facilitated the due diligence process and successful $1 billion sale of the Point Beach Nuclear Plant by Wisconsin Electric to NextEra Energy. He also developed governance frameworks for all aspects of fleet operations for several plants owned by multiple corporations. Additionally, he supported the Fort Calhoun Executive Oversight Board through its historic flooding response and successful restart efforts.

Aldo is a U.S. Navy submarine veteran who began his career as a Nuclear Machinist Mate, then an Engineering Laboratory Technician, and Master Instructor. He later applied his technical expertise at Maine Yankee and Shoreham nuclear power plants in the areas of radiation protection, chemistry, radioactive waste processing, and spent fuel shipment and decommissioning.

Aldo maintains relationships with key industry leaders at the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations, the Nuclear Energy Institute, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and the Utility Services Alliance.

Education

Aldo earned an MBA from the University of New Hampshire, and a bachelor’s degree in General Technology from Excelsior University.

Additionally, he completed the U.S. Navy Nuclear Power School. He attended all INPO and NEI Executive Development Courses and later served as a mentor for INPO Senior Nuclear Plant Manager (SNPM) classes.

Aldo resides within walking distance of three generations of his family in Texas.

He has served in the role of faculty instructor for Emergency Preparedness and Community Relations for the Center for Homeland Defense and Security. He is active in his church and community.
