Yukiko built a policy career at Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) spanning both domestic and international fields, from startup ecosystem building to utility transformation to industrial cooperation with Gulf nations.
Across these roles, she analyzed complex challenges, designed, updated and implemented policies, coordinated with diverse stakeholders, and led multidisciplinary teams.
Highlights of her career include delivering a landmark tax reform for angel investors, leading efforts to support the global expansion of Japanese startups, establishing a collaboration framework connecting Japanese sustainability-focused deep-tech startups with investors in the United Arab Emirates, and helping expand the Saudi-Japan Vision 2030, the bilateral economic partnership between Saudi Arabia and Japan, from 31 to 69 projects.
Yukiko also gained experience with international organizations through internships with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in Vienna, where she supported the Green Industrial Recovery Project for Ukraine, and UNICEF in Tokyo, where she supported fundraising efforts.
Education
Yukiko holds a Master’s in International Policy from Stanford University.
She also earned a Master of Public Policy from the University of Tokyo’s Graduate School of Public Policy and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Tokyo’s Faculty of Law.
