Kian has previously served as Chief Financial Officer of two publicly traded companies. He is a seasoned energy finance veteran with 17 years of experience spanning investment banking, strategic planning and investor relations. He brings a track record of leading organizations through complex periods of growth and capital formation.
Professional experience
As Chief Financial Officer of Tellurian Inc., a U.S. liquefied natural gas (LNG) developer, Kian led the company's efforts to structure and advance project financing for a multibillion-dollar LNG export project and negotiated and executed more than $1.4 billion in corporate-level capital markets transactions.
Most recently, he was Executive Vice President, CFO and Treasurer of Carriage Services Inc. (NYSE: CSV), where he led the company's finance and accounting organizations and directed an extensive strategic alternatives review following an unsolicited acquisition offer, working with the company's financial advisor and board of directors throughout the process.
Earlier in his career, he advised energy companies on mergers and acquisitions, restructurings and private placements as an investment banker in Lazard's Energy Banking Group and held increasingly senior financial planning and analysis and investor relations roles at Apache Corporation, engaging directly with institutional investors and Wall Street analysts.
Education
Kian holds a Bachelor of Arts in Neuroscience and Behavior from Columbia University and an MBA from Rice University’s Jones Graduate School of Management.

Outside of work, Kian is an active member of his community. He coaches his sons' high school basketball team during the offseason and previously served as a Cubmaster for their Cub Scout pack.
An avid outdoorsman, he enjoys hiking and mountain biking and has made it a goal to visit every Major League Baseball stadium and national park with his sons — turning their travels into family road trips whenever they can.
