Shikha developed Python-based automation for radiation transport calculations at TerraPower and Radiant, significantly reducing setup time and human error. She also performed iterative shielding design and optimization for Radiant’s high-temperature gas-cooled microreactor.
She began her career as a reviewer at the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, where she gained valuable insight into regulatory expectations and the technical rigor required to support defensible nuclear safety analysis.
Professional experience
Prior to joining ZettaJoule, Shikha worked at TerraPower, where she calculated radiation doses for a Molten Chloride Fast Reactor system and developed Python scripts to automate radiation transport calculations. She also reviewed calculations and prepared quality-controlled technical reports.
Previously she worked at Radiant Industries, where she led iterative shielding design and optimization for a high-temperature gas-cooled microreactor. She also performed radiation dose consequence analyses for workers and the public and collaborated with mechanical and regulatory teams on containment strategies to meet dose limits.
Earlier in her career at NorthStar Medical Radioisotopes, Shikha developed procedures for handling and inspecting radioactive materials, designed shielded storage systems, and conducted isotope production and decay simulations. She led project teams working under tight deadlines.
Shikha began her career at the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission as a Risk Engineer, reviewing license applications for radioactive material transportation packages and storage casks, performing confirmatory safety analyses, and supporting integrated safety analysis reviews.
Education
Shikha holds a Bachelor of Science in Nuclear Engineering from Oregon State University, where she received NRC scholarships in 2019 and 2020 and was a member of the Leadership Academy and Innovation X programs.
