Yasushi Fukuizumi leads ZettaJoule KK’s technology application and business case analysis. With 42 years of experience in the energy sector, he provides crucial expert guidance on gas turbine development. He also plays a pivotal role in establishing technology partnerships and cultivating relationships with prospective ZettaJoule consumers.

Most notably

Prior to joining ZettaJoule, Yasushi was the Executive Officer and Deputy Domain Head at Mitsubishi Heavy Industries where he was responsible for overseeing all energy-related businesses.

He was Chairman of the Gas Turbine Society of Japan.

Yasushi was also an expert panelist at CERAWeek, the world’s premier energy conference held annually in Houston, Texas.

Professional experience

Yasushi was a high-impact leader at Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) for more than four decades. He was responsible for a broad range of duties including international operations, product development, joint venture negotiations, engineering design, project management, execution of large-scale mergers and acquisitions, and alliance strategy formulation.

He led the company’s entire energy division, overseeing $12 billion in sales and a workforce of 23,000 employees.

During his tenure at MHI, Yasushi also developed a quantitative method for evaluating product competitiveness which was pivotal in driving the growth of the company’s power generation gas turbine business. His methodology was later institutionalized within MHI and contributed to making the company’s large frame gas turbine global market share No. 1 in 2023.

Yasushi served as the Senior Vice President of the company’s U.S. operations, overseeing sales of $2.5 billion. 

He was the 2022-23 Chairman of the Gas Turbine Society of Japan, which plays a crucial role in advancing gas turbine technologies.

Education

Yasushi earned his degree from the Department of Aeronautics, Faculty of Engineering, University of Tokyo.

He worked for Mitsubishi Heavy Industries for 42 years. He is a proud family man with a wife, children and a grandchild. 

Yasushi remains a life-long motorcycle enthusiast, although he stepped away from riding some time ago. He has often said what he enjoyed most about riding was how it connected him with nature and engaged all five senses.
